Zoho Projects Forms Can Now Adapt Themselves
Layout rules in Zoho Projects used to only work on tasks and issues. They now extend to projects, phases, and custom modules, so forms can adapt to what's actually happening instead of trying to cover every case at once.
Layout rules in Zoho Projects used to only work on tasks and issues. They now extend to projects, phases, and custom modules too.
That means a form can change based on what's actually happening: picking a project type can surface only the fields that type needs, moving a phase to “In Progress” can suddenly require a reviewer, and a custom module can show different sections depending on the situation.
What changed
A layout rule lets a form show, hide, or require different fields based on a condition, like a project type or a phase status, so the same form adapts instead of showing every field to every user regardless of relevance.
This expands where layout rules can be applied. Existing task and issue layout rules aren't affected, and new rules can now be added to projects, phases, and custom modules as well.
Why it matters
This happens more than you'd think. Most teams either build one giant form that tries to cover every case, or several nearly identical templates that quietly drift out of sync with each other.
One well-built layout rule can replace both, and adjust itself as work moves instead of asking someone to remember which template to use.
